Trip to Yanun

Yesterday we went to Yanun (south-east of Nablus) for a couple of hours, protecting the village from the settlers by providing international presence.

Solidarity action with occupied Gaza

Last week there was a solidarity action with occupied Gaza in the centre of Nablus. During a candle-lit vigil, activists, internationals and university professors delivered speeches, we talked on the phone with somebody in Gaza city and some children read poems by Mahmoud Darwish, the famous Palestinian writer.

Vorige week was er hier in het centrum van Nablus een solidariteitsactie met het bezette Gaza. Tijdens een wake bij kaarslicht gaven activisten, internationals en universiteitsprofessoren speeches, praatten we over de telefoon met iemand in Gaza city en lazen enkele kinderen gedichten van de beroemde Palestijnse schrijver Mahmoud Darwish.

Me and my pictures

Als er iets is waar ik gelukkig van word, dan is het wel foto's trekken. Ze zijn voor mij een manier om mijn omgeving te beleven en te bewaren. Maar ze zijn zoveel meer. Ze zijn ook een manier om mijn omgeving met jullie te delen.
Momenteel is die omgeving Palestina. Hopelijk kan ik jullie door middel van mijn foto's een beeld geven van hoe het leven er hier uitziet, wat er te zien is en -mischien, wie weet - wat er niet te zien is.
Dit project is bescheiden van opzet, maar ik hoop dat ik er jullie een plezier mee kan doen.
Maar genoeg gepraat, daar heb ik de andere blog voor. Tijd om genieten van dit land en zijn bewoners, hoe onvolkomen ook gebracht.

"When you're down, down below the ground, and you feel there's nothing you can do..." Just jump up, grab the nearest camera and start shooting pictures. At least that's what I like to do. For me pictures are a way to experience my world and preserve it. But they are so much more. They are also a way of sharing my world with you.
At the moment that world is Palestine. I hope that through my pictures, I can give you an image of life here, what there is to see, and - perhaps, who knows - what you can't see.
It is a very modest project, but I hope you will like it.
But that's enough talking, I have my other blog for that. Time to enjoy this country and its people.
